Getting Hall County Court Records
Begin with the official JUSTICE trial-court system. A search there returns the Hall County case number. It also gives the court and the Register of Actions entry. When a public image is offered, open it. Need a copy of something not online? Ask the Hall County clerk of the office holding the case. District records sit with Jennifer Poppen, Hall County Clerk of the Hall District Court. Stephanie Smith, Hall County Court Clerk Magistrate, handles county-court records. A public terminal at the courthouse is one more option when the online detail falls short.
- Identify the Hall County court, case number, case name, and needed document date.
- Check JUSTICE and the Register of Actions for a public image.
- Use the correct Hall County clerk counter, phone, mail, or copy-request form when an image is absent.
- State whether a plain or certified copy is needed and prepay the stated amount.
- Use the specialized sealed-record or transcript route when ordinary copies do not apply.
Call the Hall County clerk first. Confirm any mail, fax, or email arrangement before you send payment or personal details. Nebraska Judicial Branch eFiling serves authorized filings only, not public record requests.
Hall County Record Custodians
Hall County runs a split clerk structure, and it matters. Felonies after bind-over, general civil actions, domestic relations, protection orders, and appeals from Hall County Court belong to Hall District Court. Hall County Court holds traffic, misdemeanors, city ordinances, felony preliminary matters, limited civil cases, small claims, probate, guardianship, adoption, and juvenile matters. Both clerks feed their records into statewide JUSTICE. Still, a Hall County copy request goes to the office sitting on the actual file.

Court Record Types
A Hall County court record is not one single product. Think of the Register of Actions as the activity index. A filed image is a specific document. It could be a complaint, motion, order, judgment, or other filing, when public and available. Formal use calls for a certified copy. The clerk authenticates it. A transcript or digital recording captures what happened at a hearing. It follows its own request process.
- Case summary and Register of Actions entries.
- Public filed-document images linked from the ROA.
- Plain copies of a clerk-held court file.
- Certified copies with a court seal or certification.
- Transcript or recording requests for a specific hearing.
Name the product you want precisely in any Hall County matter. An ROA entry can mention an order without carrying every term the judge signed.
Hall County Records Products
Match the product to the need. A docket or ROA view works for activity and document dates. A filed image fits when a public document is available. Choose a certified copy only when a court, agency, or other organization demands clerk authentication. Transcript and recording requests go on the CC 1:14 form. A nonparty may need judicial approval. The Hall County Court reporter might require a prepayment estimate first.
Your product choice also changes the Hall County request itself. A public online image may answer a simple reading question. But certified copies, transcripts, and original file requests go through the Hall County clerk or reporter. Never use an ordinary copy request to slip past a confidentiality restriction.
Inside a Hall County Court Record
JUSTICE detail comes in layers. The summary block lists the Hall County court, case ID, caption, judge, classification, filed date, status, closed date, and disposition. Party and attorney blocks give each person's role. Criminal cases may add offense information. Financial blocks can show a judgment, costs, payments, principal, interest, and satisfaction. The ROA then lays out the dated run of filings, hearings, orders, notices, and image references.
| Case ID | The official identifier to use in a Hall County request. |
|---|---|
| Pleadings | Filed complaints, petitions, answers, and motions when public. |
| Orders and judgments | Signed court rulings; read the document, not only a docket entry. |
| ROA | The chronological activity index with dates and document numbers. |
| Exhibits | May be public, restricted, or unavailable electronically. |
Hall County Copy Form Details
The CC 3:29 request-for-copies form is the main statewide form for ordinary Hall County file copies. It asks for Hall County Court and county, case number, case name, document name and date, and delivery choice. Recipient contact information, date, signature, and an attorney bar number when applicable also go on the form. Write the correct court name. Name the exact document. Four delivery options exist: emailed non-certified, mailed non-certified, electronic certified, and mailed certified. Prepayment is required.
Identify your Hall County request well. That gives the Hall County clerk enough detail to find the document. The clerk then need not guess from a party name alone.
Fees and Certified Copies
Copies at Hall County Court carry a statutory rate of 25 cents per page, and a certification or seal costs $1, with possible card-processing charges. The CC 3:29 form breaks it down: emailed non-certified copies have no charge, mailed non-certified copies run 25 cents per page, electronic certified copies cost $1 per request, and mailed certified copies add 25 cents per page on top of the $1 seal. Hall District says copies and certification are available for a fee. It publishes no separate local schedule, so confirm the amount with the District Clerk.
| Item | Published amount | Hall County note |
|---|---|---|
| Emailed non-certified copy | No charge on CC 3:29 | Availability must be confirmed. |
| Mailed plain copy | 25 cents per page | Prepayment applies. |
| Electronic certified copy | $1 per request | Use when certification is accepted. |
| Mailed certified copy | $1 seal plus 25 cents per page | Confirm current amount before mailing. |
Hall County Transcript Requests
CC 1:14 asks for county, case number and name. It also wants the hearing date, time, location, and judge. Full or partial hearing, exhibits, privacy acknowledgment, and requester information round out the form. It is not an ordinary docket-copy form. Point the request at the exact Hall County hearing, not just the case. The statewide court-reporting fee schedule carries separate original, copy, expedited, realtime, rough-original, and exhibit charges. So check the current schedule. Check whether the proceeding was recorded, too. The CC 1:14 county-court transcript form supplies the fields for this specialized request.
Sealed Records and Public Access
Nebraska court rules open a good deal of the record to the public. Indexes and case summaries are viewable. So are ROAs with any available images. Calendars and judgment or order summaries can all be viewed. Still, limits apply. Juvenile case information, sealed material, and presentence or predisposition reports may be off limits. So may protected identifiers, restricted exhibits, and paper never converted to electronic form. Hall County clerks will not release restricted information just because a request names a case.
Access rules: Article 8 governs public electronic court-record access.
Rule 2-215 makes filings public unless law, rule, or order restricts them and recognizes clerk and State Library terminal access.
Neb. Rev. Stat. ยง 43-2,108 provides special juvenile confidentiality rules.
Sealed-record instructions spell out a different path. An eligible person files DC 1:12 or DC 1:12a instead of making an ordinary public-copy request.
Hall County Records Policy
Start with a routine Hall County case. Search JUSTICE, read the ROA, and note the document and court involved. An ordinary file may not be online. Then the Hall County clerk is the office to ask. Requests that fall outside ordinary court-record policy go through a formal Nebraska Public Records Act request. Judicial Branch procedures route it to the State Court Administrator. That route cannot bypass a seal or confidentiality rule. The Nebraska court-records search policy lays out terminal use, one-time search options, and how formal requests are routed.

Hall County record requests run through distinct channels: a search, a terminal, or a formal records request. The official materials also point to Article 8 electronic-access rules. Rule 2-215 terminal rules appear there too.

Article 8 is the governing context for online Hall County court-record access.

Rule 2-215 explains the value of a Hall County clerk or State Library terminal when remote access falls short. Fees and delivery methods change over time. Note: Confirm current Hall County fees and delivery methods with the Hall County clerk before sending a prepaid request.
Hall County Exhibit Requests
Exhibits are a separate matter from pleadings or orders. Nebraska Court Rule 6-507 presumes that exhibits from open proceedings are public. That presumption holds unless a law, a court rule, a confidentiality interest, or a court order says otherwise. Want to see or copy a Hall County exhibit? Send a written request to the Hall County clerk. Identify the case, the exhibit, and the hearing or filing date. An exhibit may appear in the Register of Actions. That does not mean it is available as a public electronic image, so plan for a slower route.
Paper records that were never converted to JUSTICE take that route too. The public terminal may help you identify the case. But the actual copy comes from the clerk's file. The same gap applies when an image is missing from a public ROA. For Hall District Court material, ask the District Clerk. For Hall County Court material, ask the Hall County Court Clerk Magistrate. Say what format you need. And a public-records request will not unlock a restricted exhibit.
Hall County Transcript Costs
A transcript is not a photocopy of the Hall County file. It carries its own statewide fee schedule. The January 1, 2025 schedule sets an original eBOE or TOP transcript at $4.15 per page and a copy at $1 per page. Expedited seven-day work runs $5.45 per page. Three-day work costs $6.10 per page, daily work $6.75 per page, and hourly work $8.05 per page. Realtime, rough-original, exhibit-scanning, and media charges are listed separately. Confirm those figures when making the Hall County request. The Hall County Court reporter may issue an estimate first.
The request needs the Hall County case number and name. It also needs the hearing date, time, location, and judge. Add whether you want the complete hearing or only a defined portion. A partial request should state which testimony or proceeding is sought. Parties or counsel may request under the form; a nonparty needs judicial approval. A transcript request cannot turn a sealed exhibit or confidential case file into a public record. For an ordinary public copy instead, use the Hall County clerk-held file and CC 3:29. Do not ask for a transcript. That keeps the request with the office and product that actually answer it.
